Maximilian Agassiz

d. Newport, RI, September 21, 1943

Philanthropist and prominent figure in local yachting circles, also
interested in polo and other sports.

Son of Alexander and Anna Russell Agassiz.

President of the Newport Reading Room and Clambake Club; superintendent
of New York Yacht Club's local clubhouse.
Summer colonist - becomes Newport resident. Sells "Castle Hill" to J.T.
O'Connell family.

Benefactor of Boston Newsboys, founder of a recreational camp in
Maine and provider of scholarships to send newsboys to college.
Suffers heart attack and dies at his home - 24 Kay Street, Newport.
